Florie Glusman, OTR/L
A
graduate of Boston University, Florie Glusman is
both a mommy and a pediatric occupational therapist
who has been practicing in the field of pediatrics
in Atlanta since 1997. She has had the opportunity
to work and mentor under well renowned therapists in
the United States. When Florie moved to Atlanta in
1997 for her training, she decided this would be the
place for her to stay. Florie has worked part time
at the Atlanta Area School for the Deaf and many
years at a local private practice, ITT’S For
Children. Florie begun her private practice in 2003,
where she continues to expand and share her
knowledge.
Among some of Florie’s passions are lecturing,
educating parents and teachers, consulting with
schools, and just playing. Florie often lectures on
the subject of Sensory Integration to both parents
and teachers. Some of those topics include
incorporating Sensory Diet into everyday play for
both typically developing and special needs
children, Sensorimotor development, What is Sensory
Integration, and bringing the world of sensory
integration into the classroom.
Florie’s areas of specialty include: Sensory
Integration, SIPT (Sensory Integration Praxis Test),
SAMONAS sound therapy, therapeutic listening, and
handwriting. All of her work is done through a play
model where she focuses on a child’s social
emotional growth. When working with a child she
takes a pyramid type approach looking first at
one’s nervous system, sensory systems, and muscle
strength/tone and seeing how these areas may be
impacting the child’s social-emotional development,
motor function, and regulation both at home and in
the classroom.
